Don’t miss these CJCE-supported events taking place at CSChE 2024. We hope to see you there!
Advances in Chemical Engineering: A CJCE Symposium
This symposium, taking place on Monday, October 7th, from 1:30PM—3:15PM and 3:45PM—5:15PM and Tuesday, October 8th, from 1:45PM—4:00PM in Harbour A & B, will feature a series of 10 invited talks organized and chaired by CJCE Editor-in-Chief João B. P. Soares of the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, University of Alberta. These 25-minute talks by speakers from 8 institutions across Canada will cover all areas of chemical engineering and are designed for a general audience of chemical engineers. Chemical engineers with all backgrounds and areas of expertise are encouraged to sit in on this symposium and learn about advances in the field from this exceptional lineup of experts.
This year’s symposium will also feature a 1-hour panel discussion on chemical engineering education from Naoko Ellis, Greg Evans, Derek Gladwin, Marnie Jamieson, and Pranav Chintalapati based on their excellent recent open access article “Shaping Futures: A Dialogue on Chemical Engineering Education”, published in CJCE’s May 2024 issue.
CJCE’s Annual Early Career Publishing Workshop
During this 3-hour workshop, taking place from Sunday, October 6th, from 1:00pm—4:00pm in the Regatta room, CJCE Editor-in-Chief João B. P. Soares will provide expert insight into the publishing world of scholarly and technical papers. In this workshop, you will learn how to efficiently prepare a clear and well-organized manuscript, how the peer review process works, how to expedite your manuscript’s review (and acceptance) as well as details about the publishing process, how to promote your published paper, and more. For a preview of some of the themes that will be discussed, see Professor Soares’ article “Publication Tips: How to write scientific articles that master the publication process and communicate your ideas efficiently”. This workshop will also provide a hands-on opportunity for you to review and critique several abstracts and learn the elements that make an abstract effective and impactful.
An e-certificate will be provided to participants following the completion of the workshop. Registration for this event is required and can be purchased via the registration portal for the conference.
