Member resource groups (MRGs) allow people with shared identities, values, and vision to build community together at the grassroots level. MRGs provide valuable opportunities for networking and support to their members.

Though these communities were always possible, we have formally incorporated them into the CIC to provide MRGs with institutional recognition and support. MRGs self-manage and work closely with the CIC to provide continuity and integration of knowledge and events.

Like local sections and subject divisions, MRGs can provide advice and recommendations to the CIC board. They help us remain relevant and valuable to the wider membership and ensure that your community is represented by the CIC.

The CIC is proud to have the Canadians Working for Inclusivity in Chemical Sciences, Engineering, and Technology (CWIC) network as our first MRG and to be able to support the amazing work that they have been doing. We strongly encourage other groups within the Canadian chemical sciences community to form MRGs.

There are currently ideas and initial steps for the formation of Indigenous, 2SLGBTQ+, and younger persons MRGs. Let us know if you want to learn more about these potential groups or are interested in organizing an MRG and we will help connect you to the community.
