Volunteer Position, Vice-Chair, Chemical Institute of Canada (CIC) Board of Directors

Overview: The Chemical Institute of Canada (CIC) Board of Directors is looking for nominations for a volunteer position in the role of Vice-Chair. This position is typically a one-year term, after which the Vice-Chair becomes the Chair of the Board for an additional year. The term begins at the Annual General Meeting of the CSC Conference (typically in June). The position will involve approximately five virtual board meetings per year, two in-person meetings (safety permitting) at the Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition and the Canadian Chemical Engineering Conference, and specific responsibilities of the Vice-Chair role. To qualify you must be ready to roll up your sleeves and be dedicated to a positive future for the CIC.



Volunteer Position, Vice-President, Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) Board of Directors

Overview: The Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) Board of Directors is looking for nominations for a volunteer position in the role of Vice-President. The Vice-President plays an active role in setting and guiding the strategy and objectives of the CSC and learns the role of the President. This is typically a one-year term, with the expectation that the Vice-President will become the President and Past-President in subsequent years.



Volunteer Position, Director of Conferences, Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) Board of Directors

Overview: The Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) Board of Directors is looking for nominations for a volunteer position in the role of Director of Conferences. The Director of Conferences reports to and advises the CSC Board of Directors on all matters relating to the Society’s activities in organizing, sponsoring, and participating in conferences and symposia. While the director’s portfolio entails involvement with most CSC-sponsored events (from regional to international), a particular focus is the efficient forward planning of the annual Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition (CSC Conference), the Society’s flagship event. This is a 3-year term with the possibility for a second term.



Volunteer Position, Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) Board of Directors

Overview: The Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) Board of Directors is looking for nominations for a volunteer position in the role of Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI). The Director of EDI promotes equity, diversity and inclusion in the Canadian chemistry community. The Director chairs the CSC Committee Working for Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (WIDE) bringing the recommendations of WIDE to the CSC Board of Directors for consideration and reporting to the general membership on activities of the Committee at the Annual General Meeting. This is a 3-year term with the possibility for a second term. 



Volunteer Position, 2x Director at Large, Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) Board of Directors

Overview: The Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) Board of Directors is looking for nominations for 2 volunteer positions in the role of Director of Large. A Director at Large is responsible for furthering and implementing the direction established by the CSC Board of Directors through active participation in Board activities. The Director may be asked to participate on sub-committees and other special one-time projects with the approval of the CSC Board. This is a single 3-year term.



Volunteer Position, Director of Local Sections, Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) Board of Directors

Overview: The Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) Board of Directors is looking for nominations for a volunteer position in the role of Director of Local Sections. The Director of Local Sections provides a liaison and communication link between the Local Sections and the CSC Board of Directors. This includes both regular reporting to the CSC Board on the activities and general well-being of the Local Sections, and acting for the Local Sections to bring issues to the attention of the CSC Board. The Director chairs the Local Section Executives meeting at the CSC Conference and other teleconference meetings as required. This is a 3-year term with the possibility for a second term.



Volunteer Position, Director of Student Affairs, Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) Board of Directors

Overview: The Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) Board of Directors is looking for nominations for a volunteer position in the role of Director of Student Affairs. The Director of Student Affairs acts as the link between the CSC Board of Directors and the students in chemistry and related programs across Canada. The Director supports the operation of the CSC Undergraduate Student Chapters and fosters the participation of students in the activities of the Society. The Director ensures the Department Heads, Faculty Advisors, Student Chapter Executives and chemistry students are informed of the various student activities within the Society; supports the regional Undergraduate Student Chemistry Conferences and ensures a CSC presence at each of these conferences; and develops contact between the Society and graduate students. This is a 3-year term with the possibility for a second term.
