You become a member of the CIC when you join one of our two societies.

Membership options

*Membership fees are all in CAD and subject to your provincial tax and a $3 processing fee which will be applied at checkout.

Full Member

$215 *

High School Teacher Member

Current high school science teacher
High school teachers actively involved in teaching science, technology and math to high school students are eligible for
high school teacher’s membership.

$75 *

Partner Member

Partner of a Full Member; formerly known as “Spousal Member”.
In addition to fulfilling at least one of the full member requirements, when someone from a couple is a full CIC member their
partner is eligible for partner membership.

Retired Member

Retired from full-time employment;
Age + Years of Membership = min. 85; and
Members who have retired from full-time employment and for whom the sum of their age plus years of membership equals a
minimum of 85 are eligible for retired membership.

Parental Leave Member

Currently on parental leave;
Have been a member for the past three (3) consecutive years; and
Members who have maintained consecutive membership for 3 years prior to applying and are a member in good standing
(active member) are eligible for parental leave membership. Apply to membership@cheminst.ca with name anytime
throughout the year indicating the period you will be on leave and mutually agreeable terms will be developed in confidence.

Complimentary

Unemployed Member

Currently unemployed;
Have been a member for the past three (3) consecutive years; and
Members who have maintained consecutive membership for three (3) years prior to applying and is a member in good
standing (active member) is eligible for unemployed membership upon providing notice of unemployment. Apply to
membership@cheminst.ca with name anytime throughout the year and mutually agreeable terms will be developed.
Unemployed membership type is available to members for up to two (2) years.

Lifetime Member

Must be 50+ years of age; and
Any member 50+ years of age qualifies for this membership type.

50 Year Member

Once you have been a member for fifty (50) consecutive years, you receive complementary membership and
conference registration in the fifty-first (51st) and subsequent years in recognition of your dedication to the CIC.
Members having fifty (50) years of consecutive membership are given a complimentary membership to recognize
their commitment to the Institute. Either a CSC (chemistry) or CSChE (chemical engineering) conference registration
is provided complimentary per year.

As a member of CSC or CSChE you can also affiliate to the other society to support both societies as we strive
to build a fully interconnected chemical sciences community in Canada.
