The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) provides funding to advance Canada’s scientific and technological capabilities. They support the formation and development of innovative research programs, purchase and ongoing maintenance of advanced equipment, and training of highly qualified personnel. They are complementary to the other two national funding agencies in Canada, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and the Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR).
The NSERC-Chemistry Liaison Committee (NCLC) was formed to facilitate discussions between NSERC and the chemistry community in Canada in order to:
- Further Canadian chemistry research.
- Enable NSERC and the Canadian chemistry community to communicate effectively with each other.
- Provide a venue for chemists to discuss broader NSERC matters.
- Create opportunities for Canadian chemists to engage in organized, strategic initiatives involving NSERC.
- Discuss topics on which NSERC and/or the federal government is consulting the community and to prepare responses on these topics.
