WCUCC 2022 kicked off with an opening speech from Dr. Jennifer Love, the department head of Chemistry at the University of Calgary, and Lily Huang, the president of the Chemistry Student’s Chapter. The first speaker featured at the conference was Dr. Gabriel Ménard from UC Santa Barbara who presented his research on small molecule activation. Poster and oral presentations from undergraduate students were delivered throughout the second and third days, with featured speakers being Dr. Jeffrey Van Humbeck and Dr. George Shimizu from the University of Calgary who presented on hydrocarbon functionalization and metal-organic frameworks respectively. This year’s WCUCC ended with a gala and nine undergraduate researchers were awarded.
