The Chemical Institute of Canada (CIC) is excited to announce the appointment of Hana Cairns as the new Manager of Strategic Communications and Engagement.

With her extensive experience and innovative approach, Hana is an excellent fit for the team. The CIC is eager to welcome her and anticipates the fresh perspectives and energy she will bring to the organization and the broader chemical sciences community.

As Manager of Strategic Communications and Engagement, Hana will lead the strategic planning process and its implementation, engage with stakeholders, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the CIC and its two constituent societies, the Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) and the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering (CSChE).

Hana Cairns is a marketing and communications professional with over 15 years of experience across both for-profit and non-profit sectors. Throughout her career, she has developed and executed comprehensive strategies that drive impactful results in strategic communications, brand management, and community engagement.

Hana’s journey in marketing began with national real estate, development, and construction brands, where she gained a deep understanding of the power of relationships in building successful businesses. However, after welcoming her son in 2016, she wanted to align her work with creating greater social impact. This led her to transition into the non-profit world, where she discovered her passion for inclusion and the transformative power of storytelling to drive societal change.

Hana is known for her ability to understand diverse perspectives, align objectives, and implement strategies that deliver meaningful outcomes while meeting the goals of all partners. She brings a strong background in communications and marketing, coupled with a talent for creative problem-solving to address business challenges effectively.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Hana is a dedicated advocate and ally for equity-deserving groups. Her commitment to inclusive practices extends to all aspects of her work, helping to ensure accessibility and remove barriers to participation.

Hana currently serves as a member of the City of Kelowna’s Accessibility Advisory Committee and holds a Master of Art in Leadership from Royal Roads University. She and her husband have a son and live in Kelowna, B.C. She loves a farmers market, traveling, eating pizza, and exercising.

I am honoured to be welcomed as a visitor on the traditional and unceded territory of the Okanagan sylix people. I am grateful to be able to care for these lands so generations to come can continue to benefit from the gifts of the region.

My passions include communication, connection, and collaboration, and I cannot wait to bring these loves to the Chemical Institute of Canada. I am honored to join the team and am eager to help members connect, grow, and learn together while contributing to the advancement of the chemical sciences in Canada. The industry plays an integral role in shaping our country’s future, and I am excited to be a part of this important work. L’ ICC annonce la nomination de Hana Cairns à titre de nouvelle gestionnaire, Communications et engagement stratégiques

L’Institut de chimie du Canada (l’ICC) est ravi d’annoncer la nomination de Hana Cairns à titre de nouvelle gestionnaire des communications stratégiques et de l’engagement.

Avec sa vaste expérience et son approche innovante, Hana convient parfaitement à l’équipe. L’ICC est impatient d’accueillir Hana et anticipe les nouvelles perspectives et l’énergie qu’elle apportera à l’organisation et à l’ensemble de la communauté des sciences chimiques.

En tant que gestionnaire des communications et engagement stratégiques, Hana dirigera le processus de planification stratégique et sa mise en œuvre, mobilisera les intervenants et contribuera à la croissance et au succès continus de l’ICC et de ses deux sociétés constituantes, la Société canadienne de chimie (SCC) et la Société canadienne de génie chimique (SCGCh).

Hana Cairns est une professionnelle du marketing et des communications avec plus de 15 ans d’expérience dans les secteurs à but lucratif et à but non lucratif. Hana est connue pour sa capacité à comprendre divers points de vue, à aligner les objectifs et à mettre en œuvre des stratégies qui produisent des résultats significatifs tout en répondant aux objectifs de tous les partenaires. Elle apporte une solide expérience en communications et en marketing, associée à un talent pour la résolution créative de problèmes afin de relever efficacement les défis commerciaux.

Au-delà de ses efforts professionnels, Hana est une défenseure dévouée et une alliée pour les groupes méritant l’équité. Son engagement envers les pratiques inclusives s’étend à tous les aspects de son travail, aidant à assurer l’accessibilité et à éliminer les obstacles à la participation.

Hana est actuellement membre du comité consultatif sur l’accessibilité de la ville de Kelowna et détient une maîtrise en art en leadership de l’Université Royal Roads. Elle et son mari ont un fils et vivent à Kelowna, en Colombie-Britannique. Elle adore un marché fermier, voyager, manger de la pizza et faire de l’exercice.

Je suis honorée de me joindre à l’équipe et je suis impatiente d’aider les membres à se connecter, à grandir et à apprendre ensemble tout en contribuant à l’avancement des sciences chimiques au Canada. L’industrie joue un rôle essentiel dans l’avenir de notre pays, et je suis ravie de faire partie de cet important travail.
