x2026 CSC ECR Grant

The CSC is pleased to provide funding to support the registration of early-career researchers (ECRs) and teaching/education-focused colleagues holding permanent appointments at Canadian post-secondary institutions.  

The funding is equal to 50% of a member’s early-bird (on or before 23:59 PM ET Apr. 14, 2026) full conference registration ($397.50). Registrants must be current members of the CSC or join at the time of conference registration. Funding will be available on a first-come basis following the eligibility, terms and condition requirements laid out below, until the fund is fully utilized. 

The application window is open from Monday, Feb. 9, until 23:59 PM ET,  Monday, Feb. 23. Applicants will receive notice of the results  Monday, Mar. 9.  Please do not register for the conference until you have received a response.

 Eligibility: 

  1. Only CSC members are eligible.
    (i) Membership purchase or renewal at time of registration is acceptable.
  2. At the time of application, applicants for the education-focused track must: 
       (i) hold a permanent teaching appointment at a Canadian post-secondary institution. 
           - Institutional context of “permanent” will be considered. 
           - Those on short-term (< 1 year) teaching contracts are not eligible. 
      (ii) be within their first ten years of teaching as a primary instructor at the post-secondary level. 
           – This excludes instruction during graduate studies, time spent on parental leave or gaps in employment, and pro-rated for part-time teaching appointments.
  3. At the time of application for the early career research track, applicants must: 
       (i) hold a permanent appointment as an Assistant Professor (or equivalent) at a Canadian post-secondary institution. 
          – “Permanent” and “Assistant Professor (or equivalent)” implies a tenured or tenure-track position. 
      (ii) have no tri-council funding or have received their first NSERC Discovery Grant within the past five years (2021-2025).
  4. Undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and research associates are not eligible. 

Terms and Conditions: 

  1. Awards are not redeemable nor refundable for cash value.  
  2. No refunds will be issued should you register for the conference before receiving a response to your application.
  3. Awards are non-transferrable. They may only be used to register for x2026, “CSC Member Full Conference” category.
  4. Awards may not be combined with other registration discount codes. 
  5. Winners must be a current CSC member, or purchase or renew their membership at time of registration.  
  6. Priority will be given to those who have not previously received this award.
