STEM Unity: Chemists Empowering Diversity

Securing an opportunity in STEM typically demands a high GPA, posing a significant hurdle to students who face greater challenges during their undergraduate journey due to a variety of factors outside of their control, and who end up underrepresented in STEM fields. UCalgary Chemists for Inclusivity, Diversity and Equity (UC CIDE) aims to lower these barriers with the introduction of a new student-led program called STEM Unity at the University of Calgary (UC).

Pride in the CIC: A new Member Resource Group for 2SLGBTQ+ Chemists, Chemical Technologists and Chemical Engineers

Building on the energy of various 2SLGBTQ+-related events, and the support of over 40 signed-up CIC members, the Pride Member Resource Group was officially established in January 2024.  The purpose of the MRG is to advance the rights of CIC members who identify as 2SLGBTQ+ by promoting inclusion, equity and diversity within the chemical sciences.
