The PSM Subject Division has released several publications with the goal of reducing the likelihood and consequences of process-related incidents and improving performance through the understanding and application of PSM.

PSM Standard, 1st Edition 
This Standard identifies the requirements of a management system that will address the scope of issues covered by PSM for facilities handling or storing potentially hazardous materials. It should be used in conjunction with the PSM Guide, which briefly explains the meaning of the elements and components.

Process Safety Management Standard Audit protocol.ver 1.01 
The questions in the PSM Audit Protocol have been prepared as a master audit tool that can be used to establish whether an organization is meeting the requirements of the PSM Standard.

PSM Audit Protocol Workbook 
The PSM Standard Audit Protocol Workbook is a tool to assist auditors in organizing and carrying out an audit, including scheduling, opening and closing day activities, and arrangement of audit questions by organizational responsibilities.

This tool will help you to establish a baseline of your site’s current level of awareness and use of the important techniques for preventing process-related incidents. It will also assist in identifying priority areas for improvement.

Guidelines for Site Risk Communication 
If the site may pose a risk to the surrounding community, it is essential that people know what to expect if an emergency happens. The Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC, formerly the Canadian Chemical Producers Association) has developed Guidelines for Site Risk Communication which take you through the basics of what to do and why, including how to handle your worst-case scenario.

Risk Assessment – Recommended Practices for Municipalities and Industry 
For experienced risk analysts it is a working document or tool, but it is also useful for the layperson as a reference work and an aid to judge when to enlist the advice of an experienced risk analyst.

Risk-Based Land Use Planning Guidelines  and Accompanying Cover Note 
This document was developed in 1995 by the Major Industrial Accidents Council of Canada (MIACC), a voluntary alliance of interested parties dedicated to reducing the frequency and severity of major industrial accidents.
