On January 17, 2018 the Vancouver CIC Local Section partnered with the Faculty of Science at Simon Fraser University to present the CIC Student Achievement awards and host the well-attended annual Nobel Prize Lectures.
The event celebrated the 2017 Nobel Prizes in Chemistry, Physics, and Medicine or Physiology through three 20-minute presentations given by SFU faculty. Presentations included the “Discovery of Gravitational Waves” by Andrei Frolov, “Biological clocks: What makes them tick?” by Esther M. Verheyen, and “Macromolecules at near-atomic resolution” by Dr. Lisa Craig. The lectures were followed by an engaging discussion session on the achievements of the Nobel Prize winners.
As part of this event, the Vancouver CIC Local Section also presented the CIC Student Achievement Awards.
