For the last six years the Chemical Engineering Departments of Polytechnique Montréal and McGill University have mounted an event for professors and students to share ideas and showcase their work. This year Université Laval joined the latest annual Research Day, which was held in March 19-20 at Polytechnique Montréal.

The event was sponsored by the Montréal CIC Local Section, Resolute Forest Products, Spectra Research Corporation, Mandel Scientific, Association pour le développement et l‘innovation en chimie au Quebec, M. H. Montreal Biotechnologies, Feldan Therapeutics, NSERC, Agilent Scientific Instruments, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Anton Paar Instruments, C-Therm Technologies, Scion Instruments, Mëkanic, and Air Liquide.

This year’s edition featured keynote lectures from Kathy Baig, president of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, and Cathy Chin, MCIC, an assistant professor in the University of Toronto’s Department of Chemical Engineering. The participants presenting their research included 80 graduate students from the three host institutions, as well as from Concordia University’s Department of Chemical Engineering. Cash prizes, sponsored by the CIC Chemical Education Fund, were given to the best MSc. and PhD presenters by Noémie-Manuelle Dorval Courchesne, an assistant professor with McGill University’s Department of Chemical Engineering, and Daria Boffito, MCIC, and Jean-Philippe Harvey, both assistant professors in Polytechnique Montréal’s Department of Chemical Engineering.
