Russell Boyd, FCIC, a Chemical Institute of Canada (CIC) past chair and professor of chemistry at Dalhousie University in Halifax, has been elected to a two-year term on the board of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), which seeks to advance the chemical sciences and to contribute to the application of chemistry in the service of humanity. Also, long-standing CIC member Bernard West of Westworks Consulting in Toronto has been elected the 2014-2015 Chair of IUPAC, Committee of Chemical Industry. IUPAC is an international federation of National Adhering Organizations that represents chemists in individual countries and is a member of the International Council for Science.
