The 43rd Southern Ontario Undergraduate Student Chemistry Conference (SOUSCC) took place this past March at the University of Toronto Mississauga. More than 150 students across the province presented their findings from current research projects and discussed future work in their area. The sessional talks and poster presentations covered the spectrum, from analytical to organic chemistry. A new category, “Educational Chemistry,” was introduced this year. The winning talk by Connie Tang of U of T described the incorporation of green chemistry principles in a solvent-free experiment designed for an undergraduate laboratory. SOUCC is sponsored by the CIC Chemical Education Fund.
