What do you do at the CIC?
My title at the CIC national office is the Member Engagement Coordinator. I develop campaigns related to the engagement of our members and through that, I analyze data to ensure effective strategies to captivate and attract our members. I build and support webinars and virtual events, specifically in order to engage students and early career professionals. I also manage the CIC social media channels, by creating content and informing our followers of campaigns and news for all CIC programming and initiatives.
How has your background let up to this work?
Since I was young, I have had an interest in creative writing, content creation and press releases (As a kid, I used to read press releases for all my favourite TV channels and video game manufacturers to know when to expect the release of new seasons of my favourite shows, and video games), this eventually led me to pursue my academic studies in the area of communications and marketing. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from Humber College. Previously I have worked various NGOs, in the fields of private education and international development, where I was able to develop my skills in the area of copywriting, event management, social media management and public speaking; skills that I have incorporated into my work at the CIC.
