A record-setting 144 inorganic chemists from the universities of Victoria, Simon Fraser, Washington, Alberta and Calgary gathered in Kelowna at UBC Okanagan May 10-12 for the 2013 Alberta/British Columbia Inorganic Chemistry Discussion Weekend. The meeting included plenary talks by SFU’s Tim Storr, U of C’s Curtis Berlinguette and U of A’s Eric Rivard. The weekend also saw student breakouts where each research student presented a short chalk-talk on their recent research results. Prizes were awarded to students Michael Jones and Ryan Roberts, both of SFU and Emma Nicholls-Allison and Jessamyn Logan, both of UVic. The Chemical Institute of Canada Vancouver Section, the Inorganic Division of the Canadian Society for Chemistry and the Dalton Transactions were prize sponsors.
