Jastina Aujla, Crofton House School in Vancouver, is the recipient of the first Lionel High School Chemistry Scholarship. The scholarship was established to assist a high school student who shows an interest in science in his or her transition to study chemistry or biochemistry at a post-secondary institution (two–year college or cégep pre-university program or university program) but who would not otherwise be able to attend without significant financial assistance.
David Fung, former CSChE president, has been appointed chancellor of Capilano University in North Vancouver. As a member of the Board of Governors, the chancellor serves as a key ambassador and ceremonial head of the university. Fung is chair and CEO of ACDEG Group of companies.
Cathy Grant, University of Alberta and Michael Khouri, Laurentian University, received the 2016 CSChE Chemical Engineering Local Section Scholarships. These scholarships are presented for leadership qualities and demonstrated contributions to the CSChE such as participation in Student Chapters as well as academic performance.

Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering Merit Awards recognize and encourage initiative and originality in Student Chapter programming in chemical engineering. The 2016 recipients are: Laurentian University receiving first place and honourable mentions going to University of Toronto and McMaster University.
Larry Seeley, Seeley Group Ltd., a past president of CSChE, was awarded the Ontario Professional Engineers’ Gold Medal. The Gold Medal is the premier award of the profession. It is given to an OPE member who is recognized widely as a distinguished practitioner of the profession and has rendered outstanding public service in other fields on a federal or provincial basis. Seeley receives the medal at the OPE awards gala this November.
