Can. J. Chem. Eng. logoThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering (CJCE) editorial team has received exciting news: our 2-year impact factor (IF) has increased to 1.9, which is an increase from last year’s IF of 1.6. CJCE’s 5-year IF has also increased, to 2.2, which is an increase from last year’s 2.0!

IF is calculated by dividing the total number of citations received for articles published over the specified time period by the number of articles (citable items) published during that time period.

IF is among a number of metrics that can be used to measure the impact of a journal and of authors’ work. In 2022, Wiley became a signatory of Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), which encourages the recognition of these other metrics, including journal-level and article-level metrics.

Among these other metrics are CiteScore and Journal Citation Indicator. For 2024, CJCE received a CiteScore of 3.8 and a Journal Citation Indicator of 0.27. For 2024, CJCE also had a 43% acceptance rate, an average “time-in-review” from Submission to First Decision of 29 days and received 441,686 online full-text views of its articles. For information about how each of these metrics are calculated, see Wiley’s full guide here.

The global reach and impact of CJCE was also highlighted by the top countries from which authors submitted to CJCE in 2024: China, Canada, India, Iran, and Brazil. Similarly, the top countries from which researchers read CJCE content were China, United States, Canada, India, and South Korea.

This increase in IF and other key metrics would not be possible without our authors—and the high-quality research they publish with our journal—as well as the dedication of our reviewers, associate editors, editorial boards, and editorial team.
