The CIC is based in Ottawa, Ontario. We acknowledge that the land on which we gather is the traditional, unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishnaabeg People. As an organization that works remotely our staff also share the traditional territories of the Anishnaabeg, Attawandaron, Haudenosaunee, Mississauga, Ojibwa, Odawa, and Potawatomie Peoples.
We make this acknowledgement as a sign of respect for all Indigenous Peoples of Turtle Island, past and present, who we recognize as the contemporary stewards of this land and crucial contributors to our society, and as a show of gratitude for our presence on this land.
We encourage our members to find out whose traditional territories they live on, pause to reflect on the hospitality shown to us as guests in these territories, and start CIC events and activities by acknowledging and showing thanks for this hospitality.
