Welcome Message from the Organizing Committee

On behalf of the organizing committee, it is my pleasure to invite you to join us in Edmonton from May 16–19 for the Canadian Chemical Engineering Conference (CSChE 2027).
 
The defining challenge of our time is no longer capability alone. It is resilience. Transforming Tomorrow: Chemical Engineering for a More Resilient World is both our theme and our charge. To transform tomorrow, we must build systems, communities, and economies that can absorb disruption, adapt to change, and keep delivering for people and the planet.
 
Chemical engineers are uniquely placed to take this on. Our field is decarbonizing heavy industry, enabling new energy technologies, securing critical minerals, protecting water and food systems, closing material loops through a circular economy, and advancing health through biomedical and biomanufacturing innovation. Increasingly, artificial intelligence is reshaping how we discover, design, and deliver.
 
This is the conversation we want to host: rigorous, cross-disciplinary, and connected to practice, bringing together universities, colleges, government, and industry. We hope you will join us, contribute your work, and help us transform tomorrow.

In the spirit of truth and reconciliation, respect and reciprocity, we are grateful to acknowledge that the CSChE 2027 Conference will be held on the Treaty Six Territory. We would like to thank the diverse Indigenous Peoples whose ancestors’ footsteps have marked this territory for centuries, such as nêhiyaw (Nay-hee-yow) / Cree, Dene (Deh-neyh), Anishinaabe (Ah-nish-in-ah-bay) / Saulteaux (So-toe), Nakota Isga (Na-koh-tah ee-ska) / Nakota Sioux (Na-koh-tah sue), and Niitsitapi (Nit-si-tahp-ee) / Blackfoot peoples. We also acknowledge this as the Métis’ (May-tee) homeland and the home of one of the largest communities of Inuit south of the 60th parallel. We invite everyone to reflect on the importance of this acknowledgment and join us in our efforts to build a more inclusive and equitable future. Together, we can support and honour the Indigenous Peoples whose past, present, and future are integral to our shared journey.
