Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC)

Membership categories and fees for 2019:

  • Half Full Member (After July) $84.50 + GST/HST

    Valid for one year only. Full membership qualifications apply.

  • High School Teacher Member $55.00 + GTS/HST

    Current High School science teachers.

  • Spousal Member $84.50 + GST/HST

    Must be the partner of a Full member. Full membership qualifications apply.

  • Retired Member $84.50 + GST/HST

    To be eligible for a retired membership you must:
    - Be retired from full-time employment;
    - Your Age + Years of Membership = 85; and
    - Meet Full membership requirements.

  • Parental Leave Member FREE

    To be eligible for Parental Leave membership you must:
    - Be currently on parental leave;
    - Have been a member for the past 3 consecutive years; and
    - Meet full membership requirements.

  • Unemployed Member FREE

    To be eligible for Unemployed membership you must:
    - Provide evidence that you are currently unemployed;
    - Have been a member for the past 3 consecutive years; and
    - Meet Full membership requirements.
    Unemployed membership is available for up to 2 consecutive years.

  • Lifetime Member $2,975.00

    Must be 50+ years of age.

  • 50 Year Member FREE

    When you have been a member for 50 consecutive years you receive complimentary membership and conference registration in recognition of your dedication to the society.

  • Student - 1st Year of Program Complimentary

    Undergraduate / Diploma / Certificate
    Must be a full-time undergraduate student at a Canadian University in their first year of study.

  • Student - 2nd to 5th Year of Program Complimentary

    Undergraduate / Diploma / Certificate
    Must be a full-time undergraduate student at a Canadian University or College.

  • Student - Graduate Complimentary

    Must be a full-time postgraduate student at a Canadian University.

  • Postdoc Member Complimentary

    Must be a Postdoctoral Fellow at a Canadian University, no more than three years post your graduation date.

  • First Year after Graduation from CSC Accredited Chemistry Program Member Complimentary

    To be eligible for 1st Year After Graduation from CSC accredited program membership you must:
    -Have graduated from an accredited undergraduate, graduate or technology program within the last year; and
    -Provide your graduation date and degree or diploma obtained.

  • First Year after Graduation Member $84.50 + GST/HST

Full Member

For admission as a full member (MCIC) you must have one of the following:

  • A post-secondary degree from an accredited Canadian chemistry program;
  • A post-secondary degree from a non-accredited Canadian chemistry program;
  • An equivalent, Society accredited diploma in chemistry;
  • An equivalent chemistry degree from a foreign university;
  • Three years of experience as a chemical sciences professional;
  • An accredited post-secondary degree in engineering, applied science, or other science, and three years of experience as a chemical sciences professional after graduation;
  • Membership of a chemistry association, order or corporation established under Canadian federal, provincial or territorial law and three years of experience as a chemical sciences profesional;
  • Status as a graduate student or postdoctoral fellow in chemistry; or
  • Recognition as an authority on chemistry and a high degree of eminence in the field.

All qualifications and equivalencies must be approved by the Credentials Committee.
