Spotlight Videos—an initiative of the CSC’s Working for Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity (WIDE) Committee—shines a light on chemists from diverse backgrounds and creates opportunities for increased representation of diverse researchers and scientists. Each month, CIC News highlights one researcher from the Spotlight Videos library.

Prof. Jennifer Geddes-McAlister is an Assistant Professor at the University of Guelph. The Geddes-McAlister lab research is in the area of mass spectrometry proteomics.

In this WIDE Spotlight Video, Prof. Geddes-McAlister discusses work-life balance, challenges and barriers faced by equity deserving groups, and role of mentors in academic careers. Prof. Geddes-McAlister also plans to be a role model and a mentor to new generation of scientists.
