Renato Monteiro
Director Business Development, North America for Methanex Corporation
Since 2017, Renato Monteiro has been responsible for brownfield manufacturing projects in North America, with the recently completed Geismar CO2 debottlenecks as the highlight. He has also been involved in green methanol production, including the first production of bio-methanol from renewable natural gas under the ISCC (International Sustainability Carbon Certificate) in Geismar last year, and methanol used in alternative energy applications, such as hydrogen carrier.
Prior to joining Methanex, Mr. Monteiro worked for ~10 years at Braskem, a leader in polyolefins, where he was responsible for the North American and European market entries through the acquisition of Sunoco Chemicals and Dow Chemical PP businesses. Before Braskem, Renato worked for McKinsey & Company, a management consulting firm, in engagements across the globe from his base offices in São Paulo, New York and Lisbon.
Renato has a mechanical engineering bachelor’s degree from ITA – Aeronautics Technology Institute (Brazil) and an MBA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (USA).
