Sohrab Zendehboudi, MCIC
Memorial University![]()
Dr. Sohrab Zendehboudi is internationally recognized for research advancing clean energy, greenhouse gas mitigation, particle and multiphase technologies, and sustainable industrial processes. A Professor at Memorial University (MUN) and Research Collaborator/Visiting Scholar at UC Berkeley, he leads a team developing solutions supporting Canada’s low-carbon transition. His research spans carbon management, hydrogen energy, particle and porous systems, and advanced reaction and separation technologies. Integrating artificial intelligence/machine learning, computational fluid dynamics, molecular simulation, process optimization, and experiments, he develops solutions improving process efficiency, sustainability, and environmental performance. Dr. Zendehboudi has authored over 380 publications, with more than 19,000 citations and an h-index of 73. He has secured over $13 million in research funding from NSERC, NRCan, NFRF, Mitacs, and industrial partners while mentoring over 150 HQP. His distinctions include the 2025 CSChE D. G. Fisher Award, the 2024 MUN President’s Award for Outstanding Research, and the 2023 CSChE–CJCE Lectureship Award. He is a Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada, a member of the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists, and has been included among Stanford University’s World’s Top 2% Scientists. Through editorial roles with leading journals such as the Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, ACS Omega, and Journal of Porous Media, and service on committees and NSERC Discovery Grant evaluation panels, he advances chemical engineering research, scholarly publishing, and excellence in Canada and internationally.
