Patrice Farand is a lecturer at École Polytechnique de Montréal, responsible for over 400 BSc students in the chemical engineering programme. He teaches courses including the general chemistry course in the preparatory year, the introductory course in chemical engineering and integration projects in 1st, 2nd and 3rd years.
Farand designed several innovative courses promoting active learning, including the introductory course in chemical engineering He developed a video on an innovative teaching method to present the 12 qualities of CEAB.and is responsible for its implementation in the chemical engineering department. He also teaches at Université de Montréal, Faculty of Educational Science training future teachers.
He has won many prizes for his teaching at École Polytechnique.

The 2012 winner of the CSChE’s Faculty Advisor Award is:
Redhouane Henda is a professor of chemical engineering at the Bharti School of Engineering/Laurentian University. He received his MSc and PhD degrees from the Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse, and did postdoctoral research at the University of Heidelberg. Henda has contributed many articles to professional journals, books and book chapters, including a text on chemical engineering principles. He has also developed computer modules for research and education purposes. His research interests focus on nano-science/-technology of thin films for energy and the environment, and on process systems engineering of complex physical/chemical systems.
