International Year of the Periodic Table

UNESCO-IYPT-2019Throughout 2019, the CIC joins the world in celebrating the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements (IYPT2019)! In addition to IYPT2019, this year also marks the 100th anniversary of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC100).

Join us at the 102nd Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition (CCCE 2019) in June in Quebec City, where we will be celebrating “Chemistry Across the Periodic Table” by asking conference delegates to highlight the chemical element most prominent in their abstract. The conference theme is “Celebrating IUPAC’s 100th Anniversary: Canada’s Place in Global Chemical Research, Innovation and Education.” Stay tuned for more exciting announcements!

How are you celebrating IYPT 2019? Share your activities using #IYPT2019 and tag us @CIC_ChemInst on Twitter and Instagram.

Get Involved!

If you’re a member of the CIC community and are organizing an event for IYPT2019, email us and we’ll list it here! Get in touch with your CIC Local Section to find out about their IYPT2019 events or to suggest ideas.

Looking for ideas? Consider running an event during Science Odyssey (May 4-19, 2019) or Science Rendezvous (May 11, 2019). For more inspiration, take a look at the IYPT2019 website.
