The NSERC STEAM Horizon Awards for High School Students provide up to $25,000 in support of post-secondary education. The 2017 Bio World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology is currently accepting panel and speaker submissions on topics that reflect current trends and novel ideas in the field of biotechnology. The Calgary CSChE/IChemE Local Section will host How to Manage Your Career in a Recession on Jan. 17, 2017 at the University of Calgary. The session will focus on career advice and options for chemical engineers, the importance of networking, the role of university training in the success of young chemical engineers and the management of early career expectations. Registration for the Leaders Overcoming Gender Inequality in Chemistry (LOGIC) Retreat is now open. Taking place from May 26-28, 2017, this three-day retreat will develop the leadership and mentorship skills of graduate student, post-doctoral fellow, academic and industrial participants. The retreat is being hosted by Women in Chemistry Toronto, which is working to provide an inclusive environment where all participants can develop their professional skills, build close ties within the STEM community and discuss gender diversity issues.
