On May 11, the faculties of Science and Applied Science at Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Burnaby, British Columbia joined with the Vancouver Centre of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada to celebrate a day of science and astronomy at Science Rendezvous 2014. An estimated 4,000 people enjoyed the many hands-on activities, displays and shows. SFU’s chemistry department showcased the 3D periodic table, made ice cream from liquid nitrogen and hosted chemistry shows to a standing-room-only audience. Science Rendezvous is Canada’s largest celebration of science.
