What do you do at the CIC?

I recently joined the CIC team to help and support wherever I can and, in particular, to bolster the communications and marketing team. My goal is to make our communications as impactful and relevant as possible. I want to ensure that every chemist and chemical engineer in Canada knows about CIC and the activities and programs we run.

How has your background led up to this work?

I am a chemist by training and I have spent the last 15 years working with societies in the chemical sciences across 2 continents. I understand what it means to be a chemist in 2023 and how organizations like CIC can help members advance their careers, develop strong professional networks and earn recognition from peers.

What else should people know about CIC?

One of the things that impresses me most about CIC is that undergraduate and graduate student membership at a Canadian institution is completely free. What follows then is that we want every student of chemistry in Canada to be a CIC member. So here’s my ask: if you are working or collaborating with students please tell them about CIC and our mission, and encourage them to join. Everybody is welcome!
