This past April, the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC) released its Responsible Care Performance: Delivering on our Commitments in Toronto at Chemistry 2015, the Canadian industry’s premier safety and sustainability conference.

“This year’s report highlights CIAC’s more than 20-year tradition of measuring and publicly reporting members’ progress towards creating safer and more environmentally friendly products and processes,” says Bob Masterson, vice-president, Responsible Care at CIAC. “While we celebrate Earth Day once a year on April 22, Canada’s chemistry industry works hard to ensure every day of the year is an Earth Day.”

The report indicates that CIAC member-companies have nearly eliminated emissions to water, substantially reduced emissions of air pollutants such as nitrogen oxide and sulphur dioxide and reduced the global-warming potential of their operations.
Members’ efforts in areas such as workplace health and safety, process safety, community engagement, product stewardship and transportation safety are also highlighted. The full report is available at: http://bit.ly/1bufzuc.

Responsible Care is the chemistry industry’s commitment to sustainability. Its ethic and principles compel CIAC member-companies to innovate for safer and more environmentally friendly products and processes and to work to reduce harm throughout the entire life cycle of their products.
