The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) annual awards, recognizing the work of outstanding Canadian scientists and engineers, were presented Feb. 17 at Rideau Hall in Ottawa. (L-R) The Honourable Ed Holder, the Right Honourable David Johnston, Axel Becke, and B. Mario Pinto. Becke, of Dalhousie University’s Department of Chemistry, won Canada’s highest scientific honour, the $1 million Gerhard Herzberg Canada Gold Medal for Science and Engineering.
