Welcome Message from the Conference Organizing Committee
Welcome to the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering’s (CSChE) 71st Canadian Chemical Engineering Conference (CCEC 2021) and 1st World Symposium on Medical Cannabis, scheduled on October 24-27, 2021. This international event is co-hosted by Concordia University, Polytechnique Montréal, and McGill University.
The CCEC 2021 conference program will explore the theme of “Molecule to Enterprise” focusing on all aspects from ideas and small-scale setups on the bench to large industrially and commercially relevant processes, products and services that will shape our current and future society. We, as scientists and engineers, have the responsibility to address the problems related to the technical and economic feasibility of a sustainable development. Thus, the technical program that is central to the conference will reflect this with its tracks and sessions demonstrating the diversity of the chemical engineering discipline and showcasing the advances in traditional and emerging chemical engineering fields. The conference will Including 3-4 plenary lectures given by distinguished speakers, including the winners of the 2021 R.S. Jane Memorial Award, and 2021 CIC Medal.
The 1st World Symposium on Medical Cannabis will explore the whole panoply of research, commercialization, and applications of cannabis for therapeutic purposes. It comprises a dozen sessions, including regulation and licensing, formulation, chemical processes like extraction, purification, growing, building and architecture (HVAC and dehumidification), control and biodisinfection.
In 2022, the Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering celebrates its 100th anniversary, which makes it among the 3 oldest research journals in the field. To celebrate this impressive achievement, Dr. Joao Soares, the editor, is organizing a dedicated session for the most eminent chemical engineers to share their current research and vision for the future. In parallel, the journal will also host a session devoted to Experimental Methods in Chemical Engineering, which is a special series of articles that has been publishing over the last 3 years.
CCEC 2021 will continue to build on the Emerging Leaders in Chemical Engineering special plenary sessions, with a call for nominations expected in Spring 2021. In addition, our community is also playing a key role in educating the next generation of scientists and engineers. Thus, the conference will also feature several core technical sessions and an integrated student program for both undergraduate and graduate students.
We look forward to seeing you in October 2021.
