Angélica Velásquez Gordon
Extractions Manager, High Park Company
Angélica Velásquez is a senior chemistry professional with more than ten years of experience in manufacturing and lab testing in Latin America, Canada and Belgium for Food & Beverage, Consumer Packaged Goods and Cannabis. She holds a B.S in Industrial Chemistry from the technological university of Pereira and an Ontario College Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain Management and Global Logistics from Seneca College. She is an MBA candidate at the Ivey business school of Western University. Angélica has been part of the cannabis industry for three years now. She has experience in lab testing and also in extraction and refinement. She is currently working as the Extractions Manager in High Park Company, part of the Tilray family. Her specialties are in operations, manufacturing, and supply chain. Her interests include lean manufacturing, leadership, and strategy.
Dr. Mehdi Haghdoost
Senior Organic Chemist, Canopy Growth Corporation
Dr. Mehdi Haghdoost earned his PhD in Chemistry in 2015, focusing on the catalysis of organic reactions. He moved to Canada the same year to start his four-year post-doctoral studies in the area of cancer therapeutics in Annie Castonguay’s research lab at the University of Québec – INRS. In 2019, he joined Canopy Growth’s team to further explore his passion for chemistry and the science of cannabis. Since then, he has been leading the organic chemistry team at Canopy Growth Corporation and enjoying the beauty of cannabinoids chemistry. Also, the results of his research journey in the world of science have been published in 17 scientific articles and 5 patents.
Dr. Aziz Chraibi
President, PBE- Expert
Dr. Aziz Chraibi completed his studies in Chemical & Processes Engineering at ENSI-ACET College of Toulouse (1986), and then a master’s in chemical engineering at the INP of Toulouse, followed by a thesis doctorate at the University of Perpignan (1990) which was postulated for the best thesis of CNRS award in 1990. He has more than 30 years of experience in Pharmaceutical & Life Science Consulting. He worked as an Engineering and Projects Director at many big consulting companies such as SNC Lavalin, Validapro Bioscience, CRIP, PBE Expert Inc and many more. In 2007, Dr. Chraibi registered as a Health Canada Expert and in 2018 as MAPAQ Expert. In 2012, Dr. Chraibi founded PBE, Pharma Bio Expert Inc., a leading c-EUGMP Pharmaceutical & Cannabis Consulting Engineering company that is involved in c-EUGMP facilities requirements from Cultivation, Trimming, Drying, Curing, Extraction, Purification, Compounding Drugs, NHP, etc. He was involved in more than 15 EUGMP Cannabis Projects and more than 300 EPCMV Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology projects. Dr. Chraibi has delivered more than 10 speeches at several international shows and congresses.
Director of Regulatory Enforcement, HEXO Corporation
Max Alsayar is a Professional Chemical Engineer with a degree from the University of Ottawa. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from West Virginia University and a Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt certification. He is a member of the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering (CSChE) and a member of the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). He has years of experience working in research and development, finance and has been in the cannabis industry since 2014. With expertise in Regulatory Compliance, Quality Assurance and R&D in his role at HEXO Corporation (then Hydropothecary). He started as a Lead Chemical Engineer and is currently Director of Regulatory Enforcement. He has experienced the wide spectrum of the cannabis industry from Health Canada licensing, quality assurance programs, process design, auditing and regulatory compliance. He has helped bring new operations such as cannabis extraction and several new products to the cannabis market and currently supports HEXO Corporations’ joint ventures in mergers and acquisitions. Some of his recent projects include obtaining HEXO Corporation’s Research License for new sites. He also has 24 published patents in Canada with several filed internationally.
