Xing-Fang Li

Xing-Fang Li, MCIC, is associate professor at the University of Alberta with cross appointment in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and in the School of Public Health. She currently serves as the vice-chair for CIC’s Environmental Chemistry Division. She is a member of the Canadian Water Network National Center of Excellence (CWN-NCE); and she currently leads two international collaborative projects, supported by CWN-NCE and American Water Research Foundation, on the development of highly sensitive analytical and toxicological technologies for water research. Her diverse research deals with analytical technology development and detection of microbial pathogens, proteins, chemotherapeutics, and water contaminants, and has published in Analytical Chemistry, Angewandte Chemie, Environmental Science and Technology, and Journal of American Chemical Society. She previously received an NSERC University Faculty Award.
Li received her BSc in chemistry in 1983 from Hangzhou University, MSc in environmental chemistry in 1986 from the Research Centre for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, MSc in analytical chemistry in 1990 from Brock University, and her PhD in environmental/analytical chemistry in 1995 from The University of British Columbia. Li is a guest professor at Zhejiang University and at the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences (Beijing).

This award is presented to a young scientist working in Canada who has made a significant achievement in pure or applied analytical chemistry.
Deadline: July 2 of every year
Sponsor: MDS Analytical Technologies
Award: A medal, $1,500 cash to cover travel costs and conference registration The recipient will be required to present an award lecture at the Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition.
Membership in the Institute is not a prerequisite for this award.
All nominations will remain in force for three years. Nominators are responsible for keeping the record of the nominee up to date and complete.
The award shall be presented annually unless the Committee considers that no suitable candidate has been nominated.
