What's New

In the February 2012 issue of the Canadian Chemical News, we venture into the deep with Nautilus Minerals, a Vancouver-based company which aims to become the first to mine the ocean floor for copper and gold. We also bring you a conversation with Howard Alper, chair of the Science, Technology and Innovation Council, about the changing landscape of chemical innovation in Canada. Finally, contributing editor Tim Lougheed tells the story of Avalon Rare Metals. The company is hoping to strike it rich in the Canadian Arctic by mining a deposit of rare earth elements, which are becoming increasingly valuable due to their use in advanced technologies.

Chemical Institute of Canada was recently highlighted in a feature insert in the National Post. Read what your institute had to say in this special report on green chemistry.

On Thursday, March 29, 2012, The Chemical Institute of Canada (CIC) and the Canadian Section for the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI) continue their partnership by hosting the annual CIC/SCI awards dinner, preceded by the second annual afternoon seminar series on “Green, Clean, and Sustainable” Chemistry. The business-focused seminar features leaders from industry and highlights current developments and the future of green chemistry and engineering.
