Presented for leadership qualities and demonstrated contributions to the CSChE such as participation in Student Chapters as well as academic performance.

The 2017 winner of the CSChE Chemical Engineering Local Section Scholarships is:
University of Alberta
Chen Liang is currently in his last year of chemical engineering at University of Alberta, graduating in May 2018. He has been actively involved in leadership roles on campus. With the local Chemical Engineering Students’ Society, he has served as co-VP Finance, and co-President. Chen has also the led student delegation to attend the CSChE Conference in 2015, and 2016. In addition, he co-founded the University of Alberta Brewing Association, an association to enhance student’s education through a hands-on technical project of micro brewing batches of beer. Throughout his undergraduate, Chen gained valuable work experience with West Fraser Timber Co, Shell Canada, and Nexen Energy ULC. Outside of academics and work experiences, he enjoys an active lifestyle playing recreational sports, travel, and working out. He would like to thank his family and friends for their support and the CSChE for the great opportunities provided through his involvement with his student chapter.
